Planning and preparing for learning
1) How do you plan? Do you plan weekly, daily,
as part a team or individually?
She plans termly, then by
unit or theme and then weekly lesson plans. She plan daily informally in a journal.
They are encouraged to plan thematically as much as we can. She also plans with
her Arabic counterpart, they try to teach the same genre of writing at the same
time etc. she, also plan with her fellow grade 4 EMT’s. They plan their termly
and our weekly plans together so they are teaching the same topics each week.
2) Do you do anything you haven’t
planning a lesson?
Yes, sometimes I find something,
which she hadn’t thought of whilst planning and she does it in the lesson Or
she find that something did or didn’t work the first time she taught it so she
change it for the 2nd. This happens because we must submit their plans every
Thursday before the week begins. She is sure to record any changes on my plans
by writing on them.
3) What is important to you when planning a
lesson?
She uses ADEC scope and
sequence as it outlines what out comes are to be taught in term 1, term2 and
term3. She then uses the curriculum map, which outlines each monthly theme. She
then uses the ADEC descriptors and indicators when she doing her weekly plans
as it outlines exactly each outcome. She then looks at books, resources,
Internet to get inspiration. Then she begins to plan.
4) Do you plan to do the
same thing with all children in the classroom? (Why/why not)?
NO, every lesson planned
outlines exactly what the emerging, developing and mastery groups will do.
There are differentiated yet flexible groups for English and math.
