Classroom Management And Teacher Talk

Beginning and ending the day

Punctuality at the beginning of the lesson
- Teacher arrives before the pupils 
-Learners arrive all on time  

Teacher’s response
To those who
Are late.
What does she say?
Positive reinforcement:
-Good dojo if the children are punctual.
Negative reinforcement:
-       Ask the children why they are late.
Punishment: 
- Bad dojo if consistently late.


Starting the day: what does the teacher say? Do?

-Escorts the children back to class after assembly.
-Children take out homework journals write down homework.
-Teacher does roll call.
-Teacher discusses outcomes for lesson and begins.

Lining up: location
Outside class.  
Teacher instructions for lining up: what does she say? Do?
-Winning table lines up first, “table1 stand, push in your chairs, and take your bags, and line up”. “Now table 5… Table3…etc.”.


Ending the day: what does the teacher say? /do?
- Gives award to table of the day.
Asks children what their favorite part of the day was.
Lines the children up. Tidies the classroom.


Moving

Moving the children for an activity.
What does she say? Do?
         - “Hands on top, that means stop”
Teacher gives instructions such as group 3 come to the carpet etc.

Moving the children: how do they respond?
Children stop what they are doing put their hands on there head, and listen to and then follow teacher’s instruction.


Misbehavior

What was the learner doing?
- Talking out of turn, out of seat, doing something that should not be doing such as doodling etc.

What did the teacher say? Do?
- ‘Alia that’s a bad dojo’ and give the child a bad dojo depending on their behavior.

How did the child respond:

- Child accepts the infraction and improves behavior
How does the teacher stop the children at the end of an activity? What does she say? Do?
Countdown 5,4,3,2,1 hands on top, that means stop hocus pocus, ever body focus 
Macaroni and cheese everybody freeze
